  • Is it hard to learn the Drums?
There are plenty of very simple songs that you can play on the drums already with very basic skills, and you simply do not know about it because you haven't been shown yet :) Put it this way: nothing is easy when you try it for the first time! Drums (like everything in life) teach you that patience and consistency are the key to improvement. Send a message to one of our drum teachers now to start chatting about your drumming journey, aspirations on the drums and more:
  • Is drumming good for Kids?
Playing the drums improves motor coordination, expressivity, creativity, learning abilities, and has a ton of other benefits for kids. We highly recommend you to have your children playing music not only because we are music teachers, but because it can improve their quality of life significantly and even give them a hobby they might carry for many years, or the rest of their lives. Read more about it here: Here at Bateras Beat, we have written our very own Drum Curriculum for Kids! The first level is up for sale now: you can start teaching rhythm to your Kids right now
  • Can I learn the drums by myself?
You CAN learn how to play the drums by yourself, just like anything. The difference is that an expert teacher will help you get better at the drums in a shorter amount of time than you would by yourself. Here is the difference between learning the drums on your own Vs learning the drums with a drum teacher. When you want to teach yourself how to play the drums: - You need to spend time finding beginner resources by yourself: video guides, drum sheets and more, without really knowing what would work well for you and what not - You need to understand movements or concepts without being shown how they are used - You need to find music easy enough to learn by yourself - You need to learn everything by either improvising or constantly being on the screen rather than playing the instrument Eventually, you might get frustrated because you have no guidance in what you are supposed to be doing and what not. Most drummers (even the most advanced ones) get frustrated because they can not actually see what areas they need to concentrate their time and energy in. When you go see a good Drum Teacher: - You are told what you are good at and what you need to improve - You'll be given resources made to improve your drumming immediately - You'll pick up drumming concepts and ideas quickly - You'll learn how to read music from scratch, and you'll learn why it's still important - You'll learn the music you want, because a teacher can help you do that - You'll be told what you need to practice every month, week or fortnight, and most importantly how you need to practice Although it is totally possible to learn the drums on your own with Youtube, online guides and other online platforms, a good drum teacher can save you plenty of time by giving you homework that nullifies your guesswork!
  • Are Drum Lessons expensive?
Drum lessons are priced differently depending on how much the teacher decides to charge, and this depends on a number of factors. On average, private drum lessons in Australia cost from 70 to 90 dollars per hour. Some teachers and music schools may offer Monthly Packages, School Term Packages or other types of bundles and offer bulk, cheaper prices for students who want to attend regularly. The cost of lessons might be the only thing stopping you from kicking your music goals; so here is the question: How can you afford drum lessons right now? Ask your Teacher/school for all their payment options: this could be weekly, fortnightly or monthly payments. Choose what suits your bank account at best! Opt for less lesson time: if one hour seems like a lot for your wallet, reduce your lessons to be 45 or 30 minutes long. This way you can aim for a more consistent lesson frequency at a lower rate, which is very important when you are starting from scratch. Opt for a longer time in between lessons: if the price of weekly drum lessons is too much for you, try and book your sessions only every second week or twice per month. This should help you mitigating the cost, as well giving you a flexible option to practice more in the meantime. Bring a friend to class: maybe you already have friend who like you wants to learn the drums! Ask them and ask your drum teacher if he can organize a lesson for two or more people at once. That way, you can split the cost of the lesson with your friend, and everyone gets their lesson time. It's a big win! Refer friends: a good teacher or school values students who get them more work. If you have any friends who also want to learn other instruments, you can use the referral to gain discounts on your lessons. That should incentivize your school to give you better prices on your lessons. Remember: you can buy it or you can hustle it! At Bateras Beat, we offer all the options above: - Flexible Memberships for all your plans: Fortnightly, Monthly, and Casual Passes for 30, 45 and 60 minute Drum Lessons. All these can be used consecutively as well for better use of your time every month. - Bring a friend: Yes, we offer group drum lessons for you to learn drumming with a friend or family member! - Referral Program: every student you refer that enrolls with us you'll get $100 in cashback to use as credit for lessons and Bateras Beat Products Explore all these options on our website

  • Can I practice on an Electric kit?
Yes: practicing on an acoustic or on an electric drum-kit makes little to no difference for a beginner drummer. What is important is the way you set up the drums, your posture and stool height, and your technique on the instrument. A good drum teacher should fixing these key points, as well as help you learning techniques that can make an electric kit sound as good as an acoustic one, with almost no difference. Furthermore, it is important that you are provided with the right material to practice and stay motivated to play music: these can include music sheets, online resources, videos and audio tracks.
